I come from an illustration / commercial art and photography background and have worked in a commercial studio environment and as a freelance artist and I am comfortable working in a wide range of media.  My work is in private collections in the UK, Europe, America, Canada and Australia.

My art education began in the late 1960s at Leicester college which is where my interest in printmaking began with the help of Rigby Graham. Several decades later I studied again at The University of Lincoln where I gained an MA in Fine Art.

I drifted into teaching Art and Design after a phone call from a local FE college asking me to help out for a few hours. The few hours turned into a few years but now, having escaped from teaching, I am concentrating on my own practice, working from my own studio using a variety of media and methods to suit my subjects.

My work is mainly achieved in a realistic style but I do deviate according to the way I perceive my subject. Most people in the art establishment talk about finding a unique style or art language. Many years ago I was encouraged to explore a wide range of responses to subjects, to learn different art languages or styles.  I still leave my options open, enabling me to respond intuitively to what I see.

Wildlife and the landscape they inhabit is  my main interest with birdlife being of particular interest especially as I live on the east coast near the Lincolnshire wash, where the marshes, mudflats and farmland  provide me with good subject matter.

A majority of my printmaking is monochrome and I use a variety of techniques and processes.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work. Please feel free to contact me.
